HARTFORD, CT — It's certainly a Hidden Gem, but it's getting bigger.

Officials at Parkville Art Gallery, a champion of local artistry and engagement, announced this week an expansion of its space at 1429 Park Street with the addition of a new creative studio located just across the hall from its main gallery.

"The process of creation looks different for everyone, but having space to work out ideas is essential for artists,” Managing Director Meredith Longo said. "It makes sense to have a space dedicated to artistic expression adjacent to the gallery."

The dedicated area will serve as a working studio for Parkville Art Gallery's artists in residence, and as a venue for classes led by Associate Gallery Director, Antony Zito. The working studio not only provides artists in residence a dedicated environment to develop their pieces, but also allows visitors an exclusive behind the scenes look at the artistic process.

Parkville Art Gallery is Connecticut's largest private art gallery, dedicated to the exhibition and support of local and regional artists. Invited artists are charged zero commission on the sale of their work. The 4,000 square foot gallery doubles as a creative event space, perfect for book clubs, corporate events, fundraisers, networking mixers, and more. Parkville Art Gallery joins residents and fellow businesses in championing Parkville as a destination for art and culture. The conception of this space is credited to artist Miguel Jose Matos, who is also the Gallery Director and artist in residence, in addition to Associate Gallery Director, Antony Zito.
