"In America, we don’t put up with would-be kings. NO KINGS is a national day of action and mass mobilization in response to increasing authoritarian excesses and corruption from Trump and his allies," wrote event organizers online.
"We’ve watched as they’ve cracked down on free speech, detained people for their political views, threatened to deport American citizens, and defied the courts. They’ve done this all while continuing to serve and enrich their billionaire allies."

Saturday happens to be Trump's birthday, and he's planning a massive military parade to celebrate that, as well as the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army.
While Trump claims the military parade is a celebration of the country's military might, critics say it is an expensive ($45 million plus) event meant to showcase his authoritarian leanings.
The controversial parade comes at a time when tariffs and trade wars have negatively impacted folks all over, including many of Trump's supporters.
They also come as Trump's agents with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) have been abducting immigrants all over while wearing masks, not showing warrants, and doing so in front of children (in some cases abducting them too).
In Meriden, a high school graduate missed his commencement this week because he was abducted along with his father and taken away to a detention facility.
In Southington, meanwhile, four immigrants working at a local car wash were abruptly questioned, then abducted into an unmarked vehicle and, simply, taken away.
Sweeps like this, which prompted protests in Los Angeles and Trump's controversial decision to send in American troops to combat American protesters there, have led to protests nationally.
