Report: Hartford The 'Hottest' Real Estate Market In Country

Realtor.com's June report states the Hartford area boasts the 'hottest' interest when it comes to buying homes in the nation.

HARTFORD, CT — It's been a hot summer both weatherwise and as far as residential real estate is concerned, according to a national real estate website.

In fact, a recent study by Realtor.com makes the claim the Hartford market — at least for June — was the hottest in the country.

According to the real estate website, which released its June "hot markets" report this week, the Hartford area's proximity to both New York and Boston makes it attractive for home buyers, especially considering the high costs of living in those cities.

Realtor.com said the median home price in this market, which includes Hartford suburbs, is $450,000 — $7,500 over the national median home price.

With New York an easy drive away (two hours), living in Hartford is significantly less than living in the New York City metro market, where the median home is $825,000, according to Realtor.com.

Hartford has been there before, according to the website.

"Although this is the metro’s first time at No. 1 in nearly a year since July 2023, Hartford is no stranger to the hottest-market list," wrote Realtor.com.

"The Connecticut city has ranked among the top 20 each month since February 2022 and has ranked first a total of five times."

The website said Hartford listings received 4.4 times more views in June than the national average, the largest margin among any of the top 20 markets.

Hartford, however, isn't alone in being among the top 20.

Realtor.com said New Haven-Milford (No. 9); Bridgeport-Stamford-Norwalk, (No. 13); and Norwich-New London (No. 19) were also on the list.

"Connecticut’s allure comes from its close proximity to major cities, including New York and Boston, along with its top-notch public schools and amazing green spaces," wrote Realtor.com.
