A Nor-easter Blowing Our Way
What will the impacts be? When will it arrive? Time will tell, but the National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Ledyard.
According to the National Weather Service forecast for Ledyard, a nor’easter is on its way with “impacts” beginning late Wednesday through Thursday.
“A nor-easter will develop along the mid Atlantic coast early Wednesday. The storm will intensify as it slowly tracks east through Thursday,” the NWS ‘hazardous weather outlook’ statement reads.

The service stated that southeastern Connecticut is expected to get six to 10 inches of snow in the Winter Storm Watch issued Tuesday.
“Forecast uncertainty surrounds the exact details of how this storm will evolve...but the potential exists for several inches of snow...and strong winds...with gusts between 40 and 50 mph.”

The full forecast for Wednesday through Friday morning looks like this:
- Wednesday:A chance of rain and snow before noon, then snow likely. Cloudy, with a high near 42. Breezy, with a northeast wind 15 to 21 mph, with gusts as high as 36 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
- Wednesday Night Snow. Low around 32. Windy, with a north wind 20 to 29 mph, with gusts as high as 45 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.
- Thursday Snow. High near 34. Windy, with a north wind 29 to 32 mph, with gusts as high as 47 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.
- Thursday Night Snow likely. Cloudy, with a low around 32. Windy, with a north wind 22 to 26 mph, with gusts as high as 43 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%.
- Friday Rain likely, mainly before noon. Cloudy, with a high near 41. Breezy. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
- Friday Night Mostly cloudy, with a low around 29. Blustery.
