The Rotary Club of Ledyard was established in 1987 and conducts many service activities on behalf of the town and region.

Mr. Johnson modeled the values of Rotary and proved by example what can be accomplished through “service above self.”
The Johnson Scholarship was established by Ledyard Rotary in 2009 to memorialize Mr. Johnson’s legacy of service, to promote the values and ideals of Rotary, and to inspire and support a new generation of community leaders.
Although applicants must be of good academic standing, the scholarship is primarily a leadership and community service award.
Ledyard Rotary is now accepting applications for the 2012 Scholarship Award of $1,000.
Each applicant must be a (1) senior at Ledyard High School who is intending to pursue post‐secondary education or active duty military service and a (2) resident of Ledyard who has (3) demonstrated a commitment to community service and the ideals of Rotary.
The Selection Committee will review all applications and select finalists to be interviewed by the committee. Finalists will be judged on leadership, extracurricular and community service (50%), essay and letters of recommendation (25%), and personal interview (25%).
