Calhoun Replaces Hinton on Board of Education

Michelle Hinton resigned from the school board to pursue municipal career opportunities.

The Board of Education announced Wednesday that Michelle Hinton, finance chair and policy committee member, resigned from her post two weeks prior and that Stephanie Calhoun is her replacement.

Calhoun, who recently resigned as PTO president at Gallup Hill School, said she's "very happy" to be on the board more permanently. She had filled in temporarily once before but now, she'll be a voting member of the board (and the finance and policy committees) until the next election cycle, at least.

Hinton said resigning from the school board was a tough decision but staying on the board could be seen as a conflict of interest as she pursues some other career opportunities.

Board of Education meetings are held on the first and third Wednesday of the month, at 7:00 in the Ledyard High School library. The meetings are also filmed for public access and streamed online. Visit the school board's website for more information.
