Car Collides With Elementary School Bus, Causes Delay

Gallup Hill Elementary school students riding on bus #26 had to be late to school this morning when a car, driven by William Goodrich, of 15 Hamilton Way, backed into the bus as it was approaching a stop.

There were no injuries reported as a result of the collision. In fact, all the youngsters were bubbling with excitement and eager to have their photos taken.

There were approximately 25 students on the bus. A handful of fifth graders were retrieved and escorted to school by a PTO member so that they could leave with their class for a 9 a.m. field trip to Slater Mill.

Evelyn Morales, a representative for the bus company, said the driver was slowing down for a stop, saw the car backing up the driveway and beeped the horn.

Goodrich’s next door neighbor, who was waiting at that bus stop with her two daughters, said she heard the horn but it was barely audible because a large truck was passing by.

The only damage to the bus that could be seen was that a rear lens was broken. Goodrich’s car had damage to the back bumper.
