Daily Five: Basketball Season Ends

Five things to know on Thursday, March 15.

1. Hopefully everyone is getting a chance to enjoy this lovely weather! Noaa.gov says this for today: "Partly sunny, with a high near 50. East wind around 7 mph."

2. If you see a basketball player today, give him a hug. The Ledyard High School boys basketball winning streak came to an end Wednesday night when they were defeated by Watertown 69-47.

3. The town council approved a handful of new appointments Wednesday night. Congratulations are in order to the following people for these new appointments:

  • Rebecca Graebner to the Permanent Municipal Building Committee as the Board of Education's representative
  • Robert Beaver to the Ledyard Town Center Committee as the Board of Education's representative
  • FX Williams to the Commission for Senior Citizens, a two-year term that ends Dec. 9, 2013.
  • Maureeen Inman to the Commission for Senior Citizens, a two-year term that ends Dec. 12, 2013.
  • Robert Schempf to the Comission for Senior Citizens, a two-year term that ends Dec. 9, 2013.

4. The will hold your favorite authors for you but not in the way you're thinking. The libraries are making it easy to get books by your favorite author(s) as soon as they become available. Just log on to the Facebook page and list your favorite authors and they'll place new titles on hold for you automatically. So, you won't find the libraries cuddling with your favorite authors but they'll help you curl up with a coveted new book sooner.
