Daily Five: Internship Available And It’s National Jerky Day!

Five things to know on Tuesday, June 12.

 

1. There’s a chance of showers, mainly after 5pm but otherwise, partly sunny, with a high near 70 today according to the National Weather Service. Tonight there’s a chance of showers and thunderstorms, or it will be cloudy with a low around 61.

2. The Ledge Light Health District Harry A. Watson summer internship applications are now available in the LHS career center.  Interns will have the opportunity to have a “hands-on” experience in a variety of public health activities performed by district staff.  It’s a paid 25-hour a week internship offered to junior and senior high school students.  The deadline for this application is Friday, June 15.

3. Today is the inaugural National Jerky Day and proponents of all kinds of jerky will be “celebrating the rich history, immense popularity and nutritional benefits of dried meat snacks,” according to the Sacramento Bee. And, to prove that people’s love for that chewy snack runs deeper than just buying something to hold them over until their next meal, here’s a gallery of beef jerky art.
