Five things to know on Wednesday April 11.

1. It may rain this evening. NOAA.gov says there’s a “a chance of showers, mainly after 3p.m. and otherwise, mostly cloudy with a high around 56. Tonight, there’s a chance of showers before 8p.m. with a low around 39.
2. Today’s the last day to submit something into the Bill Library’s Artist and Writers Showcase. The deadline is today, the opening exhibit runs from April 14 through May 13.

3. The to students in Gales Ferry and Ledyard. The criterion for awards considers academics, community service, extra curricular school activities, and monetary need and applications are available in guidance offices. Deadline is April 30.
4. Ledyard’s for demonstrations Saturday afternoons in the spring and fall. As a volunteer you’ll get to operate the up and down sawmill or be a real blacksmith in the blacksmith shop. 5. How is spring break going? Robin Lipman posted a great blog with some refreshingly modern ideas, “Tell them that some vacation time will be “unplugged” (no TV, video games, computer) and that you expect them to find time to play outside, read a book or play with friends. Get the bikes and skateboards dusted off and find the baseball glove or the soccer ball, so they are ready to go.”
