Daily Five: Ribbon Cutting, Farmers' Market And Yesterday’s Outage

Five things to know on Wednesday, June 6.

 

1. Today is forecast to have isolated showers between 9am and noon, then scattered showers and thunderstorms after noon and it will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 68, according to the National Weather Service. Tonight, there’s a chance of showers and thunderstorms before 10pm, then a slight chance of showers between 10 p.m and 2 a.m. and mostly cloudy, with a low around 52.

2. The Town Center Ribbon Cutting and the season’s first Ledyard Farmers’ Market are today at 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

3. If you lost power briefly yesterday it may have been because a turkey vulture flew into some power lines right on the Ledyard/Preston border, according to Mitch Gross of CL&P. People in Ledyard, Preston and North Stonington lost power for a few hours Tuesday; power was restored by 3:30 p.m.

4. Parks and Rec is taking registrations for summer camps. There’s a huge variety to sign up for so logon to their website or drop into the office to see what’s available.

5. For those of you hoping to hear some school bands play once more before school lets out, the LMS Band concert is on Thursday at the middle school at 7 p.m. and includes seventh and eighth grades plus Jazz band. The LHS Band Pops concert is on Friday at the high school and the middle school Jazz band will also play with the high school that night.
