Daily Five: School Promotions And Republican Endorsements
Five things to know on Thursday, June 14.

1. Today is forecast to have areas of fog before 9 a.m. and otherwise, mostly sunny, with a high near 72, according to the National Weather Service. Tonight may be mostly clear, with a low around 54.
2. Ledyard Middle School and all three elementary schools promote students today. The elementary schools’ ceremonies are at 11 a.m., the middle school ceremony begins at 5 p.m.

3. The Gales Ferry Fire Department uses 2,600 gallons of heating oil a year among five furnaces. The department’s $33,490 grant application to convert to natural gas was approved Wednesday. Administrators expect the cost of natural gas to be about three-quarters less than oil.
4. Paul Formica, the first selectman in East Lyme, was endorsed by Ledyard republicans this week in his campaign for the 2nd U.S. District.

5. Ledyard Town Councilor and Finance Committee Chair Mike France was endorsed by republicans to run for 42nd Assembly District of Connecticut.
