Daily Five: Strawberries, Strawberries, Strawberries!

Five things to know on Monday, June 11.

 

1. Today is forecast to be mostly sunny, with a high near 72, according to the National Weather Service. Tonight may be partly cloudy, with a low around 55.

2. Friday is the last day of school. The middle school is having its 8th grade promotion ceremony Thursday, June 14 at 5 p.m. and the elementary schools are having their sixth grade recognition ceremonies at 11 a.m. on Friday.

3. There’s a strawberry double header Tuesday starting with the Strawberry Supper at 5 p.m  at the Congregational Church and then an evening in the garden at Holdridge’s, which is a  free event that offers strawberry refreshments until 8 p.m.

4. But if you can’t make it to either of these events but want to have your fair share of strawberries you can pick your own for $3 a quart at 1046 Colonel Ledyard Highway. Call 860-464-8610 for more information.

5. And Thursday is the last day to cast votes for Ledyard’s Top Dog. The votes are pouring in and one lucky dog from Ledyard will be entered into the regional contest!
