DEEP Is Fishing For Photographs

April 20 is opening day of the fishing season. If you catch something terrific this season, capture the moment on camera and enter the pictures to win Department of Energy and Environmental Protections fishing photo contest.

The busiest fishing day of the year is nearly upon us. Connecticut's fishing season opening day is April 20.

In addition to catching fish, this year Connecticut Connecticut’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) Inland and Marine Fisheries Divisions is inviting people to capture the moment on camera and enter pictures in its photo contest.

DEEP is looking for high resolution digital photos that appeal to a diversity of anglers and the general public. Submitted photos must be outdoor scenes taken in Connecticut that include one or more people fishing or displaying their catch.

Images should be in sharp focus and have good color contrast. The best photo will be featured on the cover of the 2014 Connecticut Angler’s Guide. Runners-up will be featured inside the guide.

In addition to possible use in the Connecticut Angler’s Guide, submitted photos, with credit to the photographer, may be used by CT DEEP for display on a variety of fisheries outreach materials including press releases, web pages, Facebook, educational materials and other publications.

“We hope that through this contest, we’ll receive a diverse collection of digital photographs that capture the true essence and broad scope of Connecticut’s fisheries resources,” said Bill Hyatt, chief of DEEP’s Bureau of Natural Resources.

Submit your best fishing-related digital photos via email to: deep.inland.fisheries@ct.gov. Each submission must be accompanied by a submittal form providing caption and credit information and giving DEEP permission to use the digital image.

The deadline for entries is November 1, 2013. Contest information and submittal forms can be found online at www.ct.gov/deep/fishing
