Fred Allyn III Appointed To Town Council

Allyn will also serve as the liaison to the Board of Education and the Land Use Committee.

 

Town Councilors unanimously voted to appoint to the Town Council Wednesday. Chairman Linda Davis said Allyn will be filling a vacancy created when .

Davis said that Allyn has served on the Inland Wetlands and Watercourses Commission and will be the Town Council’s liaison to the Board of Education and Land Use Committee.

Allyn is a partner in Allyn Associates, Realtors out of Norwich and is the son of former mayor Fred B. Allyn, Jr.

Other (re) appointments made tonight were: Ernest A. Maynard, Jr., Robert Duffy Gabriel B. Stern, Wayne Chiapperini, Hubert G. Sokolski were appointed to the Building Code of Appeals for a five year term; Anthony B. Scarpa was appointed to the Commission for Senior Citizens.

In other business, the Ledyard Dispatch was one of four agencies who submitted their qualifications to dispatch for the Town of Ledyard. Groton, Montvill and Quinebaug Valley Emergency Communications were the other agencies that responded. Mayor John Rodolico said the next step is to ask for a cost estimate from each agency and he hopes to make a selection by the end of the year.

And, Town Council approved the tax abatement requested by . The abatement is estimated to equal less than $4,000 over the next four years as they make approximately $500,000 in repairs and renovations.

"This is more than just putting lipstick on a pig," said Councilor Steve Eichelberg in response to criticism surrounding the issue. "This is not a significant abatement considering the size and what Job Lot is."
