Ledyard Graduate, Firefighter Remembered At BOE Meeting
The family of David Pollack presented a gift to Ledyard High School in his memory.
The family of David V. Pollack was gratefully thanked for their donation of a projection system in their son's memory and honor Wednesday at a Board of Education meeting.
Pollack graduated from Ledyard High School in 2000 and was remembered fondly Wednesday night. He died unexectedly at his Amherst residence in 2008 while attending the Universitiy of Massachusetts in Amherst. Pollack was earning a doctoral degree in microbiology before his death.

Pollack's family donated a projection system that includes a retractable screen and suspended projector to the school and Librarian Sue Lantelme said she's totally thrilled to have the high tech teaching tools.
"David would really like it," said his mother Carol. "A typical guy, he liked all the new gadgets."

While in Ledyard, Pollack was a volunteer firefigher and he was a Lieutenant in the Amherst Fire Department at the time of his death.
