We asked Patch readers what they thought the biggest safety issues were in their town. Here’s a list of the most pressing problems, from break-ins to traffic jams:

  • "The area on Route 12 near Barry Drive has constant accidents. Then traffic is routed into the neighborhood which has narrow streets, very few street lights, and nobody from law enforcement directing drivers how to get through the neighborhood. We, who live there, have direct traffic or risk our property and lives. Sooner or later, something really bad is going to happen."
  • "Speeding and following too close."
  • "People talking on the phone and driving."
  • "People driving on the wrong side of road."
  • Parking lot at Ledyard Middle School during drop-off/pickup. Speeding. Everywhere. Tiny roads and speed don't mix!"
  • "Windy, hilly and curvy roads. Then there's the fog some nights."
  • "Speeders and bicycles on Rt. 214."
  • "Avery Hill/AveryHill extension and 214."
  • "The parking lot at center store."
  • "Speeding and distracted drivers."
  • "I would have to say 'speeding.' Our tight roads and high speeds just do not mix!"
