Ledyard Town Budget Passes By Wide Margin

Voter turnout was around 6 percent.

 

Ledyard residents approved the $49,169,552 town budget Tuesday. The over this year’s plan and the tax rate will likely remain at 27.93 mills.

“I’m happy that it passed," said Town Council Chairman Sean Sullivan. “It’s a validation of the hard work we did.”

Six percent of registered voters, or 555 people, voted at the referendum; 499 voted for the budget and 56 voted against.

The revenue side of the budget has not been set although Finance Committee Chairman Mike France said the committee anticipates more than originally estimated. The Town Council has agreed to set the tax rate at its regular meeting on Wednesday.
