Dear Editor:
On behalf of the American Cancer Society, I would like to extend my appreciation to the volunteer committee as well as all who attended and supported the Relay For Life of Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation. More than 160 people participated, raising more $18,000 for the American Cancer Society’s research, education, advocacy, and service programs. The outstanding support received proves that the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation and the New London County community are truly committed to the fight against cancer.

I want to applaud the 23 cancer survivors who participated in the opening lap and reception in their honor. They are the reason we continue the fight, because each year there can be more and more people living wonderful lives after a cancer diagnosis.
A special thanks to the many Relay For Life volunteers who worked to make this event a success. We also appreciate the generosity of our sponsors, including the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe, Foxwoods Resort and Casino, California Pizza Kitchen, Hard Rock Café, Native Way Blend, Norwich Inn and Spa, and our media partners at .
