Man Hospitalized After Rescue From Well In Ledyard

A man was hospitalized Thursday evening after being rescued from a 30' by 3' well.

LEDYARD, CT — A man was hospitalized Thursday evening after being rescued from a well, according to Ledyard Fire Company. Ledyard Fire Company, Gales Ferry Volunteer Fire Company, and American Ambulance Service, Inc. crews were dispatched to Arrowhead Drive at 6:55 p.m.

Police arrived to find that the man had fallen down a 30' by 3' well but was alert and responsive.

Submarine Base Firefighters Local F-219 was requested for their confined space rescue team, according to a Facebook post from Ledyard Fire Company. Upon arrival, crews lowered a harness down and had the patient secure himself so crews could support him in the water.

Rescuers then lifted the man out of the well. The man was transported to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The scene was clear at 8:30 p.m.
