Muench Given Officer of the Year Award

Ledyard police officer honored in the area-wide awards dinner.

 

Ledyard Police Officer Alan Muench was awarded the Officer of the Year Award from the Groton Elks Lodge of Elks #2163 Saturday in a ceremony that honored officers from around the region.

Mayor John Rodolico issued a proclamation at the awards dinner which says in part, “Officer Muench has twice been the recipient of the MADD Award for his efforts I the reduction of drunk drivers. Officer First Class Muench has a high rate of successful arrest, investigation and prosecutions demonstrating his tenaciousness and attention to detail. He has received numerous letters of commendation and award including his most recent letter of commendation citing his quick thinking and actions saving the life of a teenage girl trapped beneath her motor vehicle after a rollover accident.

Officer First Class Muench’s professionalism and loyal devotion to duty reflect great credit upon himself, his family and the Town of Ledyard.”

Muench was also honored by the town earlier this year for his role in rescuing a teenage driver who was trapped under her vehicle after a rollover accident.
