In an email Tuesday, the owners of the Emporium in Mystic announced the store will close in July.

"The store will remain until sometime this July at 15 Water St. (860-536-3891*), with many items on sale from 10% to 75% off, including many of the signature display pieces, antiques, old registers, and store fixtures. Come in to The Emporium, make a purchase, and own a ‘piece of Mystic’ history.

They announced on their Facebook page Friday that they have added another shopping day so they are now open Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m to 6 p.m. and on Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.

The owners wish to thank the community for the support, the kind words, sense of place, and the memories the Emporium has embodied," wrote Robert Palmer Bankel and Evan John Nickles. The Emporium has been a landmark in downtown Mystic since 1965.
