UPDATED: Officers Lift Vehicle To Extricate Teenage Driver After Rollover
Life Star couldn't fly, driver was transported to L&M Hospital.
Kylee J. Taylor, 17, of 43 Meetinghouse Lane in Gales Ferry, was transported from L&M to another hospital Tuesday afternoon after she was involved in a one car rollover accident on Long Cove Road Tuesday morning.
Resident state trooper Sgt. James Gilman, Ledyard police officers Alan Muench and Scott Peterson and off-duty state trooper Gary Butters of Troop E arrived at the scene and found Taylor under the vehicle.
The four men combined their strength and lifted the Ford Explorer in order to extricate the injured driver.

Gilman said the girl was half-in and half-out of the vehicle, "which had come to a stop on the driver's side." He said "the vehicle was resting on her and causing her difficulty breathing."
Rescuers initially called Life Star to transport the driver, but the helicopter was canceled because of the weather. Taylor was transported to L&M Hospital by Ledyard Ambulance.

The Ford Explorer ended up on its side in the yard of 705 Long Cove Road, which is owned by Tod Rowley who was not home at the time of the accident. Rowley's father, Mel Rowley lives at 708 Long Cove Road was home and said he did not see the accident but heard a big bang. The vehicle went off the road and damaged a portion of the stone wall that surrounds 705 Long Cove Road.
The Town of Ledyard Police Department, the Gales Ferry and Ledyard Fire Departments responded to the scene, as well as Ledyard Volunteer Emergency Squad, and a Lawrence & Memorial Hospital Paramedic.
Taylor's condition was not immediately known.
