Rifle Wielding Man Arrested After Fleeing Disturbance

A Ledyard man who pointed a rifle at several people at the scene of a disturbance was arrested shortly after he fled that scene Sunday evening.

received two 9-1-1 calls indicating the disturbance in the area of Shewville and Whitford Roads in Ledyard. Responding officers learned that an involved vehicle had fled the scene and that the driver had pointed a rifle at several people at the scene.

A short time later, police located the accused vehicle on Pumpkin Hill Road and the individual was taken into custody without incident.

Brendon T. Richmond, 20, of 9 Vinegar Hill Road was charged with reckless endangerment, risk of injury to a minor, reckless driving, and threatening.

An unloaded rifle was located inside of the vehicle. Richmond was assessed a $10,000 bond and will be presented at GA 10 in New London.
