Trowbridge and Shumway, who trained for the Olympics in Old Lyme, will race again tomorrow. NBC will carry air today's races later this morning.
Trowbridge, 29, first began rowing in 2000 with Old Lyme's Blood Street Sculls. Her aunt, Lucia Trowbridge Johnstone a Stonington realtor, gave Trowbridge an Empacher rowing shell early in her career to take her rowing to the next level. In 2008 she took first place for the women at the 2008 Mystic Battle Between the Bridges. Trowbridge's been on five senior national teams and has five medals from international racing. Shumway, of Westlake, Ohio, is also a member of a national racing team who made it to the 2008 Olympics.
