Students Honored For Exemplary Achievements, Integrity And Courage

Two middle school students are selected each year for the award.

 

Lucas Saccone and Carina Mitchell were honored for their exemplary academic achievements in the 2010-11 school year by the Connecticut Association of Schools last month, according to a press release.

The award honors one girl and one boy in each Connecticut middle school whose record of academic achievement and service is truly exemplary, whose personal standards and accomplishments are models for others and who possess high levels of integrity, self discipline, honesty and courage, said the report.

They were among 290 scholar leaders from 145 middle schools honored at a banquet on June 4, 2012 at the Aqua Turf Club in Southington.

Distinguished educator Jeff La Roux, the president of the Association for Middle Level Education, was the keynote speaker for the event, and the master of ceremonies was Scott Gray from WTIC News Talk 1080.

The Connecticut Association of Schools and McDonald’s Owner Operators of Connecticut sponsored the banquet, with 1,430 students, parents and educators in attendance.
