The event also welcomed Stephen and Jerry Davis, sons of the late Jack and Helen Davis, along with Jerry’s wife, Katie Davis, who participated in the ceremony and shared reflections on their parents’ enduring legacy and the values honored through this year’s award recipients.

Susan Glantz, a retired research scientist, has long been a force for civic participation, public education, and environmental advocacy along the shoreline. Her leadership through the Shoreline League of Democratic Women, CT Shoreline Indivisible, and the Madison Democratic Town Committee has empowered voters, informed citizens, and inspired generations of activists.

Steven Pynn, a lifelong educator and community leader, was recognized for his work as a teacher, principal, and founder of The ARCH School in Greenwich. In Madison, he has served on the Board of Education and the Shellfish Commission, and continues to mentor young people and promote civic engagement and student voice.

The Davis Award, named for Jack and Helen Davis, honors those who embody their legacy of community service, educational innovation, and civic generosity. The Davises transformed the Grove School into a globally respected institution, helped establish Temple Beth Tikvah, and were instrumental in preserving and enriching Madison’s civic and cultural life.

This year’s celebration served as a powerful reminder of the importance of local activism, collaborative leadership, and recognizing those who dedicate themselves to the common good.
