Alice (Shraison) Pellegrino obituary

Alice (Shraison) Pellegrino, 87 of East Haven passed away at home on May 10, 2025. She was born November 2, 1937 in Quincy MA to Charles and Alice (Bennett) Shraison. Alice is predeceased by her beloved husband Nicholas Pellegrino. Alice is survived by her four devoted children; Louis Pellegrino, MD (Joan) of New York, Marylou St. John of Windsor Locks, Deborah Hedison (Kenneth) of Warwick, RI and Thomas Pellegrino Ph.D (Carla) of Madison CT along with six grandchildren she adored;, Stephen St. John, Rebecca St.John-Robison (Trey), Eli Pellegrino (Josie), Nicholas Pellegrino, Jay Hedison and Christopher Pellegrino. She is also survived by her great grandchild, Autumn along with two sisters, Carol Shraison of Virginia and Donna Carr of Florida and many beloved nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brother, Charles Shraison.

Alice graduated from Boston University with a degree in music education. There she met the love of her life, Nicholas. A gifted musician and teacher, and a woman of deep faith who was blessed with many friends, Alice’s first love was her husband and family. In addition to their educational careers, Alice and husband Nick owned and operated Gifthaven in East Haven for many years. In retirement, they combined their artistic talents to create and sell beautiful folk art wood carvings. A woman of unparalleled kindness and gentility, Alice brought joy to every life she touched.

Family will receive friends from 4 to 7 PM on Wednesday May 21, 2025 at the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday May 22 at 11 AM in St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish at the Church of St. Vincent de Paul, 80 Taylor Ave., East Haven with Committal/Burial to follow at All Saints Cemetery in North Haven.
