Branford Man Charged In Armed Robbery Of Business: Madison Police

MADISON, CT — A Branford man is being held in lieu of $500,000 after police say he has been charged in connection with an armed robbery at "The Watch Trader" in Madison.

At 2:24 p.m. Friday, police responded to 29 Boston Post Road for a reported armed robbery.

"The suspect assaulted the store employees and the store employees received minor injuries," police said in a news release Saturday. "A stun gun and loaded firearm were used during the commission of the crime. The suspect stole several items of high-end valuable watches and the store owner's vehicle to flee the scene of the crime."

At 2 a.m. Saturday police charged with Dennis Abbate, 46, of Branford, police said. He is charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree larceny, larceny of a motor vehicle, second-degree unlawful restraint, third-degree assault, criminal possession of a firearm, and criminal use of a weapon.
