Ceremonial Flag Raising Event Rescheduled In Madison

The inaugural event was recently postponed due to inclement weather.

MADISON, CT — The Inaugural Flag Raising event at the new Garvan Point in Madison, which was postponed last week due to inclement weather, has been rescheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Friday, June 6, according to officials.

The point's deteriorating seawall has been restored, in addition to improvements to the adjacent picnic area, viewpoint and beach access to create "a newly revitalized outdoor gathering space to be enjoyed by the public today, and for generations to come."

"Join us as we raise the American and State flags over the beautifully restored park!" said First Selectwoman Peggy Lyons in a statement.
