Connecticut Open House Day: Check Out The Deacon John Grave House

The Deacon John Grave House and Lee's Academy are offering free admission, tours, demonstrations and other events.

The Deacon John Grave House is part of the Connecticut Open House Day on June 8.

"Open House Day is a great way for you to experience all the state has to offer and to encourage you to become Connecticut Ambassadors who take pride in sharing your new discoveries with visiting family and friends. The annual event is coordinated by the Connecticut Office of Tourism, a division of the Department of Economic & Community Development," says the event's website.

In Madison, the Deacon John Grave House is participating. Lee Academy was originally scheduled to be part of the event, but it will not be open until later this summer.

At Deacon John Grave House — 581 Boston Post Rd., Tuxis Farm — there are free guided tours from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., leaving every half hour, along with hearth cooking demonstrations.

Editor's Note: This article was corrected on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 to note that Lee Academy will not be part of this event.
