Tax Freedom Day Won't Arrive in CT Until May 13
CT residents are last in the country to pay off their tax burden.
Americans for Prosperity-Connecticut released the following statement on the announcement that Connecticut has the latest Tax Freedom Day in the country, May 13.
The rankings were released today by the non-partisan Tax Foundation. “Even though most people think of tax day as April 15, the taxpayers of Connecticut must work until May 13 to pay off their tax burden and begin taking home some of the money they work so hard to earn,” said AFP-CT State Director, JR Romano.
“It is disappointing but not surprising that once again Connecticut lands at the wrong end of a ‘best-of’ list comparing the states on matters of fiscal policy and priorities. You cannot change these ratings without changing policies and unfortunately the governor and legislature insist on offering the people of the state more of the same failed policies that have landed us with the latest tax freedom day in the country.”
As an outlet for state taxpayers who are frustrated with the state's earning such dismal rankings, AFP-CT has set up their “I’m a Resident, Not a Revenue Source” petition as well as an online site that allows taxpayers to send their elected officials an e-card detailing the need to stop overspending. Both will be available online through April 15th.
The Tax Foundation’s report, which also reveals that the national tax freedom day will arrive on April 18, five days later than last year, is available at www.TaxFreedomDay.org.
