MADISON, CT — On a scale of 1 to 10, it gets an 8.

Dave Portnoy, the founder of Barstool Sports and a noted pizza reviewer, recently offered the skinny on a pie from Amato's Pizza & Pasta in Madison.

He gave the cheese pizza an 8, because while the taste was "superb," he found it a little "drippy, drippy," meaning it was a little greasy, which is not his thing.

Last month, Portnoy was on a mini-tour of pizza places in the Shoreline area, including a stop at Carpanzano's in Guilford.

Amato's is no different. The Durham Road pizzeria saw such a crush of new customers, Bevilacqua posted on Facebook that the restaurant was temporarily sold out.

"THE PORTNOY EFFECT IS REAL AND IN FULL SWING AT AMATO’S!" he wrote in all caps. "Thank you everyone for your patience! Thank you David Portnoy - El Presidente — feeling blessed."
