Emergency Alert Issued By Madison Police Due To Major Gas Leak
Residents are urged to avoid the area.
UPDATE: The shelter in place is removed, but please avoid the area if possible as police are still working on scene. The roads remain closed. 
MADISON, CT — The Madison CT Police Department has issued an emergency alert for an active gas leak, power outage and shelter in place request.
"Please avoid Overbrook Road between Opening Hill Road and Colonial Road due to a large active gas leak in the area. A fallen tree brought down power lines, which caused damage to a nearby gas main. Multiple homes in the area are currently without power.

"At this time, residents in the immediate area are asked to shelter in place while emergency crews work to contain the situation and ensure the area is safe.
"Emergency personnel are on scene and addressing both the gas leak and power outage. Please stay clear of the area and avoid travel nearby until further notice.

"Updates will be provided as they become available. We appreciate your cooperation," police said.
As of 1:15 pm, there has been no change in the status of the gas leak. Police shared video here.
