Fred Astaire Dance Studios in Madison, CT, achieved remarkable success at the recent Northeast Dancesport Competition at the Hyatt Regency.
Fred Astaire Dance Studios in Madison, CT, achieved remarkable success at the recent Northeast Dancesport Competition, held from Thursday, August 22nd to Saturday, August 24th at the Hyatt Regency Greenwich in Greenwich, CT. Both instructors and students impressed judges and spectators alike, earning a series of standout awards with their extraordinary performances.
Denys Fesenko and Khrystyna Mendela, instructors from Fred Astaire's Southbury, Old Saybrook, and Madison studios, dazzled the audience with their breathtaking Latin dances. Their electrifying performance won them the coveted Open Latin Championship 4-Dance, leaving no doubt in the judges' minds that they were the top competitors. Fesenko and Mendela, who has won several prestigious titles in Latin dance, including the New England Fred Astaire Interregional Colonial Classic Championships Open Latin in Mystic, CT this past May, once again demonstrated their elite talent.
Fred Astaire Madison’s students also delivered stellar performances, claiming top awards in several categories. Highlights include:

The competition's celebratory banquet on Saturday evening honored top performers, with special awards going to Khrystyna Mendela (Top Female Award, 7th Place) and Denys Fesenko (Top Male Award, 6th Place). The highlight of the evening was a stunning encore performance by Fesenko and Mendela, who reprised their winning samba from the Open Latin Championship.
“We couldn’t be more proud of our students and instructors for their incredible performances at the Greenwich competition," said Christian Lange, studio co-owner. "Watching them grow as dancers and achieve such success is immensely rewarding. Many are now preparing for the Orlando, Florida Championships this fall, and we’re excited to support them in what we know will be exceptional performances.” said Paulo Jorge, studio co-owner.
