The Garden Club Of Madison Turns 100
The anniversary was recently recognized with a proclamation from the town's Board of Selectmen.
MADISON, CT — The Garden Club of Madison celebrated its 100th anniversary earlier this week, with a proclamation from the town's Board of Selectmen.
The proclamation reads:
WHEREAS, for 100 years the Garden Club of Madison has been a vibrant and committed part of the community fabric; and

WHEREAS, the Garden Club of Madison has endured through the decades sharing the art, science and pleasure of gardening, horticulture, and environmental conservation with the community; and
WHEREAS, the Garden Club of Madison has enhanced the beauty of our community by developing and maintaining numerous perennial and seaside gardens and native plant walks throughout Town; and

WHEREAS, the Garden Club of Madison maintains the Veterans’ and 9/11 Memorial Gardens; and
WHEREAS, the Garden Club of Madison is responsible for the planting of more than 20,000 daffodil bulbs throughout town, and continues to expand the Daffodil Trail initiative each year; and
WHEREAS, the Garden Club of Madison manages the Bauer Park apple orchard, its bee hives and orchard expansion; and
WHEREAS, the Garden Club of Madison, exemplifies volunteerism and promotes a healthy lifestyle that lasts a lifetime, helps reduce stress from other areas of life, and teaches that rewards can come from diligent efforts; and
WHEREAS, the Board gratefully recognizes the achievements of the Garden Club of Madison. On behalf of the Town, and the Board of Selectmen, I express our appreciation for the Garden Club of Madison’s outstanding commitment to the Town and on its 100th anniversary.
NOW, THEREFORE, WE, the Board of Selectmen of the Town of Madison, do hereby recognizes the Garden Club of Madison’s 100th Anniversary. Dated at Madison, Connecticut this 22nd day of January 2024.
