Health Advisory Issued In Madison After Natural Gas Leaks
Natural gas leaks were detected in the Overbrook Road over the weekend, and repairs to the gas main are underway.
MADISON, CT — Several Madison residents have reported health symptoms, such as headaches, since natural gas leaks were discovered over the weekend in the Overbrook Road area, and the town's Health Department is issuing a health advisory as a result.
Concerns have been raised about persistent gas odors and the safety of private well water, and officials are offering guidance for residents.
"Brief exposure to natural gas at low levels is generally not harmful," officials said in a statement. "However, strong or lingering gas odors—especially indoors—should be taken seriously. Prolonged exposure may lead to symptoms such as headaches, dizziness, fatigue, or nausea."
