MADISON, CT – As the town of Madison prepares for the annual Independence Day Fireworks and Independence Day Parade, town officials have shared parking, road closures and where to view the fireworks best.

Town officials said there is a change to the Caribbean Band Moto concert as the new starting time is 6 p.m.

For those who want to park at the surf club and East Warf, the gate hours will be extended from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Town officials said any resident or guest wishing to park for the fireworks at these lots will need a seasonal beach sticker or daily parking pass.

Town officials said a shuttle bus will run the Surf Club on a continuous loop starting at 7 p.m. on July 2 with stops at Route 78 Commuter Lot, the Madison Train Station and the Stop ‘n Shop Parking lot.

Road closures for the July 2 Independence Day Fireworks start at 8 p.m. Traffic will be restricted to residents and official businesses only on these roads starting at 6:30 p.m.

  • West Warf Road (southbound).
  • Surf Club Road (westbound).
  • Middle Beach Road West (westbound).
  • Island Avenue (southbound).
  • Middle Beach Road from East Warf Road to Island Avenue.

On July 4, during the annual Independence Day Parade, town officials said the parade will require road closures. Residents and motorists should expect traffic delays along the parade route between 9:45 a.m. and 1 p.m.

The Affected areas will include:

  • Boston Post Road (Route 1).
  • Wall Street.
  • Samson Rock Drive.
  • Durham Road (Route 79).
  • Academy Street.
  • Copse Road.
  • Island Avenue.
  • Britton Lane.
  • West Warf Road.
  • Lantern Road.

Town officials said motorists should seek alternate routes during the parade.
