Hotel In Madison Among Top 10 For Waterfront Locales in the U.S.: USA Today

MADISON, CT — Madison Beach Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton has been named one of the 10 best waterfront hotels in the United States, according to a new report by USA Today.

The hotel, at 94 West Wharf Road in Madison, was ranked #4, and was the only Connecticut hotel to make the list.

"Whether by a lake or overlooking the sea, there's something special about vacationing near water," the report reads. "Nominated by a panel of hotel and travel experts and voted as the best in the country by readers, each of these 10 U.S. waterfront properties sets the scene for a memorable and relaxing vacation."

Overlooking Long Island Sound, Madison Beach Hotel dates back to the early 1800s, and was once a boarding house for workers at Hoyt’s Shipyard in Madison.

USA Today describes Madison Beach Hotel as "an elegant spa resort that features a private beach with open-air concerts in the summertime, as well as a casual fine dining outlet serving traditional New England fare with an award-winning farm-to-table menu."

Rounding out the top five are The Lodge at Bodega Bay in California (#5); Grand Hotel Golf Resort & Spa in Alabama (#3); Chatham Bars Inn in Massachusetts (#2); and Acqualina Resort & Residences on the Beach (#1).
