Judge Decides on Prison Sentence For Madison Stop & Shop Fatal

84-year-old woman was killed walking in Stop & Shop parking lot in 2017; on Friday woman who struck her received AR.

MADISON, CT – A year-and-a-half after an after an 84-year-old Madison woman died after being struck by a car in the Stop & Shop parking lot, the Madison woman who caused her death has been sentenced to accelerated rehabilitation.

Lois Ashman, 71, was charged with negligent homicide-motor vehicle for the death of Marjorie Ehrenfreund on Jan. 12 2017 while she was walking in the Stop & Shop parking lot in Madison.

Last Friday, in New Haven Superior Court, Ashman received AR, meaning she will serve no jail time because of what both parties agreed was an accident.

Ehrenfreund was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital where she later died as a result of her injuries.

Police said that Ashman was cooperative in their investigation of the fatal accident.

The judge sentenced her, with the the Ehrenfrend’s family compliance, to AR.
