Letter To The Editor: “Call Before Midnight Tonight!”

To The Editor: 

Do we all recall the warnings we hear from those unsavory advertisements on television that warn you to “send your money before midnight tonight!”? The alarm bells in any thinking person should be loud and clear because they are saying if we think about it too much, we may not act in accordance with our first impressions or the hucksters ‘desire to get us to do their bidding. Well the newspapers have been highlighting our Governor’s desire to “act now” on gun control and it is the same theme. All laws are both helpful and harmful.

It is interesting that the Harford Courant has been running a number of in-depth reports on the tragic New Town incident and with each revelation a number of questions emerge. The newspaper has dedicated a number of researchers and reporters to the effort and they are doing their best to help us understand this mad man. My question is where is the official report. Why are we not allowed to read the facts? Why isn’t the body politic screaming for the data before our lawmakers act. In the parlance of a misguided marksman in training – ready, fire – AIM?!

It is time and the report needs to be forthcoming. I have read about “unidentified sources close to the investigation who have requested anonymity” once too often. Enough secrecy -bring us the data please.
