Madison Accepting 'Expressions Of Interest' For Academy Building Redevelopment
The town has sought to redevelop the vacant property for years.
MADISON, CT — After the redevelopment project was rejected by voters in the spring, the redevelopment of the former Academy School building is back under consideration.
The Madison Board of Selectmen is asking developers for an Expression of Interest in the potential development project. Responses are due by Oct. 29; click here for more information.
"All ideas are being welcomed and will be considered in parallel with estimating the potential costs for demolition," First Selectwoman Peggy Lyons wrote in a recent Community Update.

The board's intention is to make a recommendation on the building's future by the end of the year.
In May, voters rejected a plan for the building to become a community center, in part due to the project's rising costs, which were expected to top $24 million.
