Madison-Based Pizzeria Recognized At Dave Portnoy's One Bite Pizza Festival

The pizzeria was one of less than a dozen pizzerias from Connecticut to participate in the New York City event, according to the owner.

MADISON, CT — Amato’s Pizza and Pasta in Madison was one of about 40 pizzerias from around the country to participate in Dave Portnoy's One Bite Pizza Festival this past weekend in New York City, according to Amato Bevilacqua, Amato's owner.

Billed as "The World's Greatest Gathering of Pizzerias," the annual festival hosted fewer than a dozen pizzerias from Connecticut.

"This year’s festival features 40+ top-rated pizzerias handpicked by Portnoy himself, dishing out all-you-can-eat slices at restaurant pop up's from legendary Pizzerias," according to the festival's website.

Amato's is no stranger to Portnoy, who visited the pizzeria in 2024, when he gave the restaurant's pizza a solid 8 for taste.

"Representing Madison, CT on a national stage [at] the largest pizza fest in the country!" Bevilacqua said in an email to Patch. "Only 9 pizzerias from CT were selected to go."
