Madison Dog Park Approved

The Planning and Zoning Commission gave approval for a dog park at Salt Meadow Park.

MADISON, CT — The Madison Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously approved plans for a dog park at Salt Meadow Park.

The dog park enclosure will be on about half an acre of undeveloped land along the Boston Post Road, according to the town’s Land Use Office. Natural cedar will be used for fencing material after commission members expressed concern about black-coated vinyl chain link fencing.

Madison’s dog park is funded through the capital improvement program and supplemental funding through the American Rescue Plan Act.

The commission originally approved a permit in 2012 to turn former Griswold Airport into Salt Meadow Park. Most of the park has been completed except the hanger building, concession stand, restroom facility and boat launch.

The dog park is within 500 feet of the Clinton town border and town officials were notified.
