Madison Family Friendly Halloween Event Enters Third Year

Preparations under way for Trunk or Treat festival

Madison community members are preparing for their third annual Trunk or Treat festival on the Green Saturday, Oct. 31, the Madison Source reports.

Trunk or Treat began in 2012 in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. The hurricane’s effects threatened to ruin the fun for the children of this community, but the town had other ideas.

Instead, the town worked together to make sure their kids were not let down. Eileen Banisch, Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, said the alternative idea they came up with was Trunk or Treat. It was a success.

Trunk or Treat is safer because it is not door-to-door, rather done from the trunks of cars with parents close, said Banisch via the Madison Source. What was a backup plan to make sure the children of the community did not miss out on spooky, fall festivities turned into a yearly occurrence due to its safe, family-oriented nature.

The event will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on the Madison green.
