Madison Postpones Ceremonial Flag Raising Event

The postponement was due to expected inclement weather.

MADISON, CT — The Inaugural Flag Raising Ceremony at Garvan Point in Madison, which had been scheduled for Friday morning, has been postponed due to expected inclement weather, according to officials.

In recent months, the Garvan Point seawall has undergone a reconstruction project. A new date for the flag raising ceremony has not yet been determined.

"Given the significant rainfall, the construction fencing around Garvan Point will remain in place to protect the newly planted grass," officials said in a statement. "We appreciate your cooperation in not crossing the construction fencing, and we look forward to allowing public access to Garvan Point as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation."
