Madison Receives $401K Grant For Town Campus Gym Improvements

MADISON, CT — Madison is improving its Town Campus Gym Floor after receiving funds from the 2023 Small Town Economic Recovery Assistance Program grant.

“The Town Campus Gym is an important facility used for a wide range of community activities, including acting as Madison’s current emergency storm shelter,” First Selectwoman Peggy Lyons said. “Throughout the years, this gym has hosted a wide variety of youth, adult and senior recreational programming, summer camps, vaccine clinics, town meets and town employee events. The STEAP Grant award will allow us to move forward more quickly with repairs to the floor to return it to a consistent, usable condition.”

“The funding will help keep Madison Town Camus Gym safe, functional and a continued fantastic resource for residents,” State Senator Christine Cohen said.

Austin Hall, Madison’s Director of Beach and Recreation, said the new gym floor is essential for so many community members because it is used by every age group in Madison for athletic, social and civic events.

“I’m thrilled to see over $400,000 coming to Madison for a much-needed replacement of our Town Campus gym floor,” State Representative John-Michael Parker said. “It will positively impact recreational, communal and even emergency operational activities in town.”

Lyons joined State Representative Parker and State Senator Cohen in thanking Governor Ned Lamont for supporting the vital community project.
