Madison Recognized For Filing Excellent Financial Report

A national organization has recognized the the town of Madison for its thorough reporting of town's financial state.

MADISON, CT - The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has announced that the Town of Madison has been awarded a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR).

The GFOA’s press release states that, “the Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

An Award of Financial Reporting Achievement has been awarded to the Town of Madison’s Department of Finance who is responsible for preparing the award-winning CAFR.

The CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.

First Selectman Tom Banisch said, “our Finance Department continues to raise the bar to help Madison retain our position as one of the best-run towns in CT. I’d like to thank Finance Director, Stacy Nobitz, and the entire Department of Finance for their hard work in preparing the award-winning CAFR.”
