Madison Resident Among New State Troopers

Connecticut State Police added 58 new troopers to its ranks after the 125h Training Troop class graduated from the academy Thursday.

Trooper Richard Buchetto from Madison was assigned to Troop E in Montville.

The class entered the academy on June 15 and spent about 1,400 hours in the classroom. Time was also spent on physical conditioning, water rescue and other specialized areas of police work.

Class members come from diverse backgrounds and professions including a state’s attorney, registered nurse, paramedic, counselor and corrections officer.

Facts about the class:

• 12 have military experience.
• 10 have prior law enforcement experience.
• 31 have bachelor degrees.
• 3 have graduate degrees.
• The youngest member is 21-years-old.
• The oldest member is 45-years-old.

Members of the class were assigned to one of 11 State Police troops throughout Connecticut.

State Police currently have about 1,100 troopers. The department serves as the primary law enforcement agency for 81 towns covering 2,600 miles and also patrols 7,000 miles of state roadway.
