Madison Seeks Volunteers For Bicentennial Celebration In 2026

In addition to Madison's 200th birthday, the United States of America also celebrates its 250th anniversary.

MADISON, CT — Madison, Connecticut is turning 200 in 2026 and it’s time to start planning!

The Board of Selectmen has created the Madison 200│America 250 Steering Committee to facilitate celebrating this historic milestone. The Board of Selectmen has identified key persons and organizations in the community to assist in the planning, development, and oversight of implementing commemorative events and activities for the Town’s 200th anniversary as well as the United States of America’s 250th anniversary. The steering committee will coordinate with all relative town organizations in planning and organizing the activities leading up to the Bicentennial year of 2026.

In addition to the town’s Municipal Historian and representatives from the library, local historical societies, the Economic Development Commission, and the Chamber of Commerce, the Board is looking for two energetic and creative resident volunteers who would like to serve on this steering committee. Applications can be found on the town website and must be submitted by Friday, October 11, 2024. The goal is to seat the full committee by November 2024.

This is an amazing opportunity for the town to acknowledge our history both before and after our establishment and provide a framework for what our town would like to accomplish over the next century.
